Riff Turn #1

3-count riff R
brush step R across left
heel drop RL
toe drop RL

Count: &a1 &2 &3 &4 (slow) OR &a1 &a 2& a3 (quick)

Tips & Variations:
  • See riffs broken explained here
  • Begin turn facing front, after crossing R foot over, use heel and toe drops to unwind body
  • This turn does not travel
  • My favorite arms for this turn go out with the riff, then come into the body during the unwinding

  1. The paradiddle is one of the basic building blocks
(or rudiments) in drumming, in addition to flams, drags,
and rolls. Paradiddles are typically one of the first
rudiments taught to beginning snare drum students and
can later be applied to the whole drum set, especially
    during fills.
